Cambridge Association for Women in Science and Engineering (CamAWiSE) is a network established to help retain and improve the representation of women in science, engineering, technology, mathematics and medicine (STEMM) in industry and academia. We run a broad range of talks, workshops, and networking events, and keep our members informed about initiatives related to women in STEMM as well as diversity and inclusion in STEMM more broadly. Our flagship mentoring programme attracts the attention of STEMM professionals worldwide.
CamAWiSE is seeking a Volunteer to serve as Project Coordinator and help us grow the Association’s reach and range of activities. This role will be pivotal in providing high-quality support to CamAWiSE’ Steering Committee and CamAWiSE members.
We particularly welcome applications from volunteers with energy and a positive attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ideally a STEMM-related background in teaching or marketing communications. Applicants will need to be self-motivated, fast learners, able to work with a wide variety of people. They should have well-established administrative skills (including MS Office), strong communication and writing skills, and be confident using social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram) and other online applications. Experience in event organisation and web content management would be an advantage. We encourage candidates from diverse backgrounds with strong level of English, from any geographical location.
This position offers a great opportunity to develop your communication, networking and project-management skills. Key responsibilities include:

Responding to email enquiries and taking action as necessary

Creating and circulating the CamAWiSE monthly newsletter using a dedicated software platform

Co-organising, publicising and attending events both online and in-person when feasible

Writing up meeting reports and collating event feedback

Attending the CamAWiSE Steering Committee meetings (every four to six weeks, in the evening)

Maintaining and updating the CamAWiSE website, as well as CamAWiSE social media accounts

Liaising with members regarding membership enquiries and renewals, and maintaining the membership database
The time commitment will be flexible (up to 6 hours / week). Evening availability will be occasionally required for meetings and events. The Coordinator would work from home using their own equipment. This is a volunteering opportunity with no financial compensation.
